Check these facts about the moon!
Did you know we had moon trees? Well, let me tell you that Moon trees are trees grown from seeds that were taken to the moon and back on Apollo 14 in January 31, 1971. Most of these trees were then sent out between 1975 and 1976 to Forestry Services and other places in the USA as part of our nation's Bicentennial Celebration.
The moon, the Earth's only natural satellite, is about 238,900 miles away from Earth. It is the brightest light in the night sky, yet it does not give off its own light, but reflects the sunlight.
There is no wind or weather on the moon. The footprints left there by the Apollo astronauts will remain there for many years because of this. That´s cool!
The same side of the moon faces the Earth the whole time. We never see a different side!
Scientists believe the moon craters were formed around 3.5 to 4.5 billion years ago by meteors hitting the moon's surface.
